About Cyrus

Cyrus Young was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He has lived in Fayetteville for over thirty years and served eight years as alderman on the Fayetteville city council. He also served on the ordinance review committee, the water and sewer committee, the environmental concerns committee, as well as the nominating committee.

In addition to serving as an elected official on the Fayetteville city council, Cyrus is a graduate mechanical engineer with over twenty-one years of experience working for a civil engineering consulting firm with positions ranging from surveying to construction administration and additional duties such as quantity take offs and court house research. As a construction inspector he confirmed adherence to construction plans and contract documents. His construction administration duties included checking construction plans for water, sewer, streets and storm drainage, as well as preparing monthly cost estimates for payment to contractors and providing coordination between contractors, clients, and city agencies.
